Welcome to the Google Educator Conference (formerly known as CS4HS workshop): An exploration of Computer Science for Primary/High(Secondary) school teachers in Western Australia
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Western Australia, with generous support from Google, is holding an Educator Conference on July 14-15 at UWA. The conference is free and aimed at helping K-12 teachers (both pre- and in- service teachers) and educators learn more about using ICT through hands-on activities, presentations and the sharing of innovative teaching and discussions with other educators, industry speakers, and UWA researchers. In particular, we will demonstrate how teachers can encourage learners to think and analyse a particular topic through use of ICT/CS. The conference requires no previous programming experience.

Our goal for this conference is to provide a free professional development program for K-12 teachers who have an interest in ICT/CS. This two-day program includes plenty of hands-on activities and interactive sessions and will provide participants with many opportunities to interact and discuss teaching and the use of ICT/CS in classrooms for teaching and learning different subjects. There are many reasons to attend Google Educator Conference, including:
- Getting hands-on experience with new and easily adapted computing resources and putting together your own lesson plans. A UWA computer science lab will be the venue for these activities with full facilities and support. This will help ensure success and generate discussion about the possibilities these materials might offer.
- Hearing different talks and presentations on CS ideas and resources for teaching and learning in different subjects, such as mathematics, science, literacy and programming.
- Discussing ideas and innovative teaching strategies from Google engineers, other teachers and educators.
- Hearing and sharing a range of innovative teaching experiences using technology and their positive contributions to quality learning experiences for students.
- Receiving gifts from Google and UWA.
- Receiving certificate of attendance.
Organised by The University of Western Australia.
